Welcome to my website and thank you for visiting. All of the paintings are originals, they are in essence one offs and unique as no prints are made or available. Most of my paintings are deeply textured and tactile and would lose their essence in print form. Each and every painting has a resonance for me and I feel to produce hundreds of copies would dissipate their worth.

Hailing from a family of artists, I primarily pursued a successful career as an award winning chef, working all over the globe. I started painting again while working as a private chef in remote and beautiful locations. My paintings have developed over the years and are now found in many private collections all over the world.

As a foraging chef I often find myself in the depths of nature – either looking through a forest, with light and deep shadows or scouring a beach, watching the ocean ever move and change. I strive to capture these moments of time and place and look beyond what I can physically see. (sometimes using my mind’s eye). Some I have interpreted in my own way, but others are as raw as I can make them. 

I feel that, as a painter I am also a storyteller sometimes being faithful to the facts of the story, sometimes taking a leap of faith. Either way, I try to capture a particular moment in time and place with the feeling I had when I was there.

Painting with acrylics, a spectrum of techniques and other media allows me to produce works of colour, depth, texture and light with an abstract slant. I lay down a base and then try to finish the work in one sitting , I hope this gives them a sense of vitality and immediacy. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t…you can decide. The paintings I have presented here are the ones that I think work. The ones that didn’t, I turpsed and started again.
